KIRABO

In the spoken language of Luganda, Kirabo means "gift". Join with the Amani Baby Cottage as we begin our annual Christmas Giving Campaign. Please consider making a "Kirabo" (or gift), as we strive to make every Christmas at Amani special. 

Gift's Story; "A Ugandan Christmas"

Some years ago, a nameless baby girl was abandoned at a small church in the middle of the Ugandan sugar cane fields just outside of Jinja. She was then brought to the Amani Baby Cottage just before Christmas, so everyone agreed she should be named Kirabo (Gift in English). Sadly, she was only with us for a short time, when someone came to claim her. Unfortunately, she was exposed to abuse and neglect that no child should have to experience at any age. During this time, the family that was caring for Gift lived and worked in a men's prison that can almost be seen from Amani’s gates. For more than a year, this was her home. Then, we received a second Christmas miracle. God brought her back to us here at Amani. Today, Gift’s home is in Florida. She was adopted by a loving family that had previously adopted two other baby girls that Gift had come to know like sisters during her time here at Amani. Her smile is contagious and her love for the Lord is so much bigger than all her past could ever be. Gift’s story is like so many others here at Amani and this Christmas, we wanted to share it with you. So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving and praying, and thank you for helping us make Gift’s story possible for so many other babies here in Uganda.

 The Amani Baby Cottage has been caring for and placing infant Ugandan children in caring, loving homes in Uganda and all over the globe since 2003. Our goal is that each one of them will find a place with a loving Christian family. To date, a total of 325 children have been cared for in our home. Almost half of these children have been reunited with their parents or extended family members, while the others have been fostered into new families. A small number  have been transferred to other ministry placements as well.

We operate under the covering of Total Family Outreach, a non-profit US corporation. Amani Baby Cottage operates by faith in a loving, heavenly Father who has promised to take up the cause of the orphan.
