My name is Accalia and I am a 27 year old that needs your help to complete my transition from Male to Female.

Ever since I was young, I related more with females than males. I could never understand at the time why I was told that I had to be "this or that" solely because of gender. My family and society bombarded me with these have-tos and must-bes that I was forced to take a traditional male role or face alienation from my loved ones and the possibility of being disowned.

Years down the road, it took the help of my close friends and mate as an adult to make me realize we CAN be who we are, and we CAN do the things we want to do! I started therapy and I was diagnosed with a condition called Gender Identity Disorder. Gender Identity Disorder (AKA: Transgender) is a medical condition where the gender of the body and the gender of the brain don’t match. The only treatment for this is correcting the body’s gender to match the brain's.

I started HRT, Hormone Replacement Therapy a little over two years ago. These hormones have helped drastically in making me feel more like the woman I should be. But while that change is quite extreme, there are some things that I will never see corrected with only hormone therapy; surgeries such as facial feminization surgery and gender reassignment surgery.

These surgeries are not covered by most insurance or healthcare providers and are very expensive because specialized surgeons are required to perform them.

I need these surgeries to have a normal and fulfilling life within the structure society has been known to abide by. I was born with a female brain and a male body. This affects every aspect of my life and causes me great suffering; people have belittled me, called me names, degraded me, all because I am trying to be what I AM and not what they see me as. It has been a very rough emotional journey, and I believe that taking these steps will give me the peace of mind and change needed to overcome these hurdles.
