I'm Shayla. I have Type 2 trigeminal neuralgia which causes non-stop stabbing pains in my head and face. This pain is moderate to severe and may never, ever go away. I have lost my apartment and my job and am waiting to hear about disability.

I'm Shayla. I'm asking for help because I am homeless and unable to work due to intractable, severe headaches caused by type 2 trigeminal neuralgia. My pain lives somwhere between a 6 and an 8 on the pain scale non-stop, every day. I am often nauseated from the pain and the medication I take to help control it makes my limbs jerk and feel weak and uncontrollable. I have trouble remembering words and I sometimes slur my speech.

Because of this and my previous serious health issues, I lost my job and my home. I am lucky enough to have friends I can stay with right now, but if I get sick, I can't stay at the place I'm at during the week and have nowhere else to go and the local women's shelter (we have only one) is perpetually overcrowded. I need some sort of cushion so I can go to a motel if that happens. I also need day-to-day things like shampoo that does not trigger my friend's allergies and money for food because $189 a month in food stamps does not go very far. I also have to pay for medication though I am applying for a program that may help with that for a little while.I would also like to be able to help my cats' foster family with the expense of caring for them.

I have applied for and been denied Social Security Disability and SSI. I have appealed but that process can take a very, very long time. I desperately need help. I don't have anywhere to go or anyone to turn to. There is no fallback. At all.
