Saturday, April 20th, 2 of Harlee's Angels came to the rescue of little Bogey. We pulled this sweet little guy from the Wichita, KS city shelter where he had been sitting on a cold, hard floor since the 14th.
His food and water dishes had been placed in his kennel, however he could not stand on his own so we don't know how long it had been since he had had water or food.
(He drank like a fish for us and was starving so I would say chances of anyone taking the time to feed/water him in the city shelter were slim to none).
We are not sure what happened to him. He was listed as a stray but vet report we saw states that he had been treated by an ER Vet in Wichita for possible HBC (hit by car) and was given something for brain swelling. Best we could figure out is that someone found him on the road, took him to ER and they took him to the shelter.
I can tell you that until this afternoon, he had not received any additional treatment since intake which means he has been hurting and in pain for almost a week.
I drove like a bat out of hell from Wichita to OKC to get him to Neel Clinic, Homeward Bound Pug Rescue's vet. On the way there, he had 2 grand mal seizures and another shortly after arriving. The valium iv he was first given was not helping calm him so he is now on a loaded dose of pheno to try to bring his seizures under control. They are also doing a thorough exam.
For those of you that know Bentley, little Bogey is 10x worse. He cried all the way to OKC and just before his grand seizures he would shriek. I will never forget that sound.
Update: Bogey had a seizure at 3 and 8 am this morning. he is now being given loaded doses of pheno to hopefully stabilize him. his enzyme levels are elevated so they are watching his liver. Vet has suggested possible liver shunt or PDE. The vet also says he is most likely blind. He will be getting an MRI to help further diagnose his issues.
As you can imagine, the expenses are mounting and Homeward Bound could really use some help.
If you would like to donate towards Bogey's care, every penny helps. On behalf of Bogey and HBPR, thank you.
