This family of four (Alex and Stacy, with their 2 children, Alexis and Eric) has fallen on very difficult times in the last three years.

In April of 2020, as a freshman in college at the age of 18, Alexis suffered a stroke. This was a result of a brain bleed soon after emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor. Although maintaining a positive cheerful spirit, Alexis needs full time monitoring as she is prone to seizures and has limited use of her left side due to the stroke. Her mother, Stacy, quit her job to provide full time care for Alexis, leaving them with only 1 income and mounting bills.

18 months later, also at age 18, Eric was diagnosed with a life -threatening cardio and respiratory disease, Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. This caused an enlarged heart and damaged lungs, leaving him weak, with frequent chest pain making it difficult to climb a simple flight of stairs. He often requires the use of  oxygen just to perform routine self-care tasks.

Both Alex and Stacy suffer with severe back pain, as well as other health issues including Alex’s recent oral infections. Beginning in July 2022, Alex was unable to work for nearly six months. During this financial crisis, extended family and supportive community members stepped in to assist financially and emotionally.

Although Alex is handicapped with severe pain in his shoulder and back he has been (against his doctor’s advice) working limited hours. Alex has been able to make enough to take over bills for groceries, gas and other miscellaneous expenses that have arisen. However, in order to resume the type of work he is capable of which will bring in enough income to support the entire family, it is critical that Alex has oral and shoulder surgery in the very near future.

We, their family, continue to help to the best of our ability but now need to ask for your assistance in keeping this family together, with their basic living expenses provided.

Any contributions made to this fund are put directly into a special checking account that has been setup for them. The rent, power and phone bills are paid from this account directly to the landlord, power and phone companies. We would also like to help out with the upcoming surgeries that may not be fully covered by the insurance they have been able to qualify for.
