Hi everyone! My name is Coach Maya and I've set up this fundraiser for my players. We are Indiana Elite Team Mel, named in honor of our former head coach, dear friend, and loving mother Melissa Johnson who passed away last AAU season. Coach Mel was one of the best coaches and friends that I've ever had, despite only playing for her my freshman year at Earlham College. In 2020, she was asked to take over her daughter JJ's AAU team and roped me in to help. Her passion for the game of basketball and her love for molding young players will never cease to amaze me. Due to Mel being such an amazing mentor, I have been able to transition into the head Coach position. A ton of changes have happened since last summer but one thing remains-- our love for the game.  With the girls getting older (they're literally  ALL in high school now....omg) expenses for things like travel, hotel rooms, team meals, snacks for in between games, medical equipment, and road activities has increased. We thought that this would be a great way for folks to continue to support the girls along their basketball journey. Any amount(s) will be appreciated and will truly impact the lives of 10 more than deserving teen girls.
