Although Paul has not raised the funds needed for himself he is now assisting us at Housing the American Dream to alleviate the threat of the epidemic which now threatens the homeless in Greater Los Angeles.
Paul STILL needs you help, please do not forget him as he dedicates his time to helping us solve the rat problem now recognized as a major threat to the homeless.
Due to circumstances beyond his control my good friend, Paul Read, has fallen on tough times. If you know Paul, then you realize that he dedicates most of his time helping the homeless population in greater Los Angeles area. You have probably seen Paul on videos, on the news and, if you are at the encampments, you understand what he is bringing to this cause. His work is saving lives.
I was immediately impressed with Paul’s determination to confront the establishment for the homeless. That takes courage.
Paul is a caring person, focusing on the tent cities. At any time, day or night, you can see him there, providing them with services, food, and essential supplies, learning about people’s problems and getting them the help, each needs.
Even for their animals, he works,
knowing how the support of a small friend can sustain the spirit of
someone who has lost everything.
Paul puts
so much into helping the homeless he sometimes sacrifices more than he
has, and now this has happened.
At this moment, Paul needs vehicle repairs; his computer and phone are dying, and he is getting behind on his bills. He is struggling.
When someone cares as much as Paul does, as an Advocate for the homeless, confronting the failure of local government and the hostility of those who just want the problem to just go away, it was all too easy for a man like him to put those in need first. For this he deserves our admiration and respect – and our support.
Right now, today, he needs $5,000 to keep him working for those facing the horrors of being on the street.
All these small things, the phone, computer, his car and rent, which most of us take for granted, are necessary for him to continue the work he does for others. I believe Paul’s work is essential to ending homelessness itself.
Although this isn't a direct donation to the homeless, we hope you'll help Paul - now. He would never ask for anything himself, but he knows many depend on him, so I persuaded him to let me ask you to help him so that work can continue.
