I am Apanaki Temitayo M, and I so very proud to be the only Canadian Fiber Artist to be accepted into the prestigious North Charleston 9th Annual African American Fiber Arts Exhibition: Honoring Maya Angelou, from May 6th to 9th.
I will be showcasing my original Textile Artwork, called Mama's Watching in South Carolina. North Charleston is the epicenter for social change in the US, and the murder of Walter Scott, is hosting this exhibition celebrating the life and work of Maya Angelou.
I have stepped up to enter the call to into this physical, emotional and historical space, to carry my art, beliefs and my vision for change.
As a mother of three beautiful children, I need your support to help, with accommodations, expenses and travel while in North Charleston. I have been gifted with a ticket to get me there but just need help with my basic expenses.
I will return to give a detailed Artist Talk at Women's Art Network Toronto about my eyewitnesses accounts and artistic connections while there.

Apanaki Designs Eco-Tote, good for going from day out in the summer sun to a casual night out. I am totally influenced by Trinidadian culture and my love for African culture, which color is key and my love for the vibrancy and hues of African fabric cannot be denied in this beautiful and functional tote. Use it for, shopping, work, travel, gym, yoga, an overnight bag, and many more. Each bag has 100% cotton traditional African fabric, beautiful kente and tribal prints, done in my unique quilted/collage style, chosen to excite the eye. The mixture of the rich African textiles, Australian Aboriginal, Dashiki, Delicate Foils and Vintage Fabrics, make up these trendy Eco-Totes. The base bag is fairly traded environmentally friendly. Made from natural jute, unbleached cotton and canvas, all which can be used as a convenient eco substitute for non-recyclable polythene carrier bags. This is will be limited to availability.

Anja Sagan Artist, (AOCAD, B.A. Hons.) Designer and CEO of Firehorse Creations, a Toronto-based design company Specializing in creating personalized art designs on our clients' existing clothing. How does this process work? For the 'cadillac' service we offer, we make a design together - the "VIP Design Experience" which is a custom, hand rendered piece (including Swarowsky crystals) on items of clothing you already own and know fit you well. After listening to a recorded relaxation/focus meditation, together we create a design that inspires you and expresses your unique interests and passions. Anja has been painting and drawing since she could hold a pencil and can literally render anything you want (except images subject to copyright)
