In November, 2015 I will be graduating a Bachelor of Psychological Science. I have been given the oppertunity to volunteer in Sri Lanka for four weeks in January 2016. 

Here I will be working at a psychiatric facility for one half day a week and a rehabilitation centre for another half day, giving myself one full day of hands-on work with individuals suffering with mental health issues in Sri Lanka. Other fields that I will get to experience include educational psychology, applied psychology and developmental psychology.

I will also be working on Mental Health Projects- These projects take place in a clinical setting or in the community. I'll be expected to get creative and really think about how best to help individuals who are all at varying stages in their recovery. 

Additional Projects on the Psychology Placement are;

Youth Teaching Projects- I might be teaching English to students or it could be people from the local community, aged 40+, some who come from miles for my lessons. 
Children’s Teaching Projects- SLV partner with a number of Children’s Development Centres, primary schools and after school clubs to provide extra-curricular English lessons.
Special Needs Projects- I will also run activities at centres working with people with different specific needs.

This oppertunity would be amazing. Not only will it provide me with amazing learning and cultural experiences, but it will give me a chance to practice everything I have been working towards for the past four years!
