Hi,

My name’s Esrom Abraham and I’m originally from Eritrea, which is in East Africa. I was born in Ethiopia but I have also lived in Kenya and Uganda, finally settling in the UK. I go to UCL Academy in northwest London, where I joined the World Challenge Project to educate myself on the hardships people face in less developed regions of the world. I also want to go to help the Ecuadorian people in improving the quality of their lives. Your contributions will enable me to join my teammates and build a water pump/filtration unit. This will provide the impoverished community of Puma Rumi with clean and local access to water. This will remove the need to the trek to far areas to get clean water. We are going to refurbish the school that had previously been built. Others and I will take it upon ourselves to teach the children and adults of the community how to speak English.

By going on this trip I hope to gain a greater understanding of the lives of the less fortunate and to become more cultured. It is my aspiration to help the people in similar conditions all over the world with the use of science and to eradicate poverty altogether. If you're not able to make it a donation simply sharing this page will be greatly appreciated. By spreading the work of my project, it will bring one step closer in helping me make my goal of going to Ecuador. My teammates and I continually have fundraiser events at my school, so keep spreading the word peeps. :)

First of all, your contribution will give me the chance to go to Ecuador. It will also go to our budget in which we can use to help the community e.g. water pump/filter. Some of it will go to our trek in the jungle to see the amazon forest in all its glory. However, the majority will go to providing the community with the necessary tools, equipment and materials to improve their current living state within their village. These are simple long-term improvements that can drastically help the community on a daily basis, even once we have returned back to the UK. If I am unable to go the money will be sent to the community to fund the improvements needed in their village.

This is project is a great way of students becoming more aware of the issues around the world whilst allowing them to experience new cultures and parts of the world. This not only helps the people in Ecuador but also the students to become more rounded and globally aware member of society. As I have heard many times before this trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I will greatly appreciate being able to take it.
