Daphne McKell Bock hasn't added a story.
Erik Bock is one of those guys who can fix just about anything. From cars to stereos, he is the go to man his friends and family rely on. He was born with the gift of planting, and as a child he grew a beautiful relationship with the earth and all of it's horticultural beauty. His eye and skill to create the most fantastical, lush environment with God's creations, is second to none! He earned a degree from Mississippi State University in Ornamental Horticulture to tuck under his belt, then dove into his other love, sound engineering. He has a meticulous, creative ear for music and it's production. He learned his skill in a time when purity was the norm, and stands by his belief (and can prove it) that analog audio is superior. In this day and age, he is a rebel. A degree in recording engineering from the Institute of Audio Research, NYC. Another of Erik's gifts is the ability to help others. He became aware of natural health and nutriton some time ago out of neccessity when his grandmother fell ill with pancreatic cancer. He researched and studied Macrobiotics. A Japanese based diet and lifestyle that has been proven to help individuals with certain illnesses, to overcome. He took on this lifestyle, and coached several friends through their sickness and into a healthy lifestyle. Grew up in New Jersey, the first American born in his family who fled communist takeover in Estonia after WWII. They built a wonderful life and family there, just across the river from NYC, where he spent his childhood with younger brother and sister. We met while he was in college at MSU, as I lived in the small town of Starkville where the school is hosted. I developed a "puppy crush" on him, as he was one of many students who would join our roster of friends who gathered on Sundays to play tag football. When he graduated and moved back home to NJ, I was heartbroken, but alas, a young heart heals quckly. Time marched on. 10 years later, my mother passed at the age of 43 with Glioblastoma. Devasted, I went to Key West to visist my uncle for a few months. The night I returned, I heard his name on the local radio station, and discovered him there working as a DJ. We have been together ever since. God is MIGHTY! That was 27 years ago. Today, we live in Franklin, TN where he has just re-started his garden design and management business that he launched in Malibu, CA (if you're gonna go, go BIG!) but had to fold due to cost of living there. After several months with a few happy clients and working weekends at Home Depot, feeling positive about the future.......a brain tumor. Very suddenly, short term memory, mental confusion, weakness on one side, in a weeks time, he could no longer drive the car, or go to work. Biopsy showed the bear of all cancers, Glioblastoma. Familiar to me, but this is a different time and place. Thank God! Our outlook on beating this thing is so positive you can carry it in your pocket.. The Lord has put us in just the right place, and has sent just the right people to help us see this through to victory! Erik is incredibly at peace and faces each day with unspeakable courage and grace. We are so blessed that Vanderbilt Unversity Medical Center is here and has taken us on. Our team of Neurologist have the heart and skill only HE could create. Our medical finances are covered, as this hopital opens their hearts to the uninsured. So very grateful!!! However, Erik requires 24/7 care. With neither of us able to work, we face bankruptcy and no income for living. This is what we ask you to help us with. Expenses for prescriptions, supplements, rent, utilities, household items, gas to get to treatment, etc. That treatment is chemo/radiation M-F for 6 weeks. They say it will go away with this treatment but surely come back within 2 years. We love our doctors but are not accepting the latter!! With a team of supporters of family & friends, the best doctors in the world (Dr. Allen K. Sills leading them!!) and God on our side, how can we possibly lose?? We ask you to give what you can and know that no matter how much it is, it is your heartfelt support that it represents to us. This is what encourages our determination!! Bless you!
