I am 25 years old student from Canada. I am going to cycle through the Europe this summer to raise money for CHILDHOOD CANCER in Ukraine. Our volunteer group made an agreement with the Ukrainian Natioanal Foundation "Zaporuka" , member of ICCCPO ( All money raised during this trip will be donated to Zaporuka.

We are looking for financial support:

• Airplane ticket – approximate cost                 $800

• Bike                                                                $700

• Equipment(GPS, rack, clothes)                      $500

• Food expenses                                              $500

                                                           TOTAL: $2500

I believe that WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE. Help me please to get everything done before my ride.

Here is my story and plan for the summer 2014 :)

At the age of 8 I lost my childhood friend, he had a cancer. Despite my limited understanding of life and death at that age, it was a huge loss for me. Unfortunately, due to his family financial difficulties, they couldn’t afford proper treatment to save his life. He died after a few years of torments.

To this day, I still ponder why it happens that someone so young can lose their opportunity to live and experience life. While, other children are lucky enough to grow up, others are not as lucky. These poor children end up not experiencing their first day at school or having the opportunity to fall in love. However, they feel sadness and tears of parents, relatives, and close ones. Surprisingly, based off of the world statistics, they suggest that childhood cancer is curable, and 80% of children recover and have a normal life. Thus, I will make a difference and unite for a cause. Rescuing one child at a time, we can change the world around us.

The first day of summer, June 1st, 2014 coincides with one of the oldest international holidays, known as International Children’s Day, which honours children globally and strives to increase awareness and protect their well-being.

I want to send a message around the world and attracts the attention of my peers and my generation. For this, I will be cycling around a planned route and raising awareness through various methods. I plan to find many athletes who will take part in this campaign. I am sure that this event will spread quickly. The main idea and the purpose of the campaign “Ride for Kids 2014” is to raise money for sick children as well as, waking up the youth and motivating them to take action in changing their lives for the better.

I am proud to raise awareness for this holiday. I plan to cycle, starting in Brest, France to the capital of Ukraine, Kiev. The route will include checkpoints in Antwerp (Belgium) – Rotterdam (Netherlands) – Amsterdam (Netherlands) – Hanover (Germany) – Berlin (Germany) - Poznan (Poland) – Warsaw (Poland) – Grodno (Belarus) – Vilnius (Lithuania) – Minsk (Belarus), and Kiev (Ukraine). The estimated length of the route is around 3800 kilometers, spanning across five countries of the European Union, entering Belarus, and finishing in Ukraine. The anticipated time for the completion of the ride is 35 – 40 days, depending on the weather conditions and other external factors.
