Two & a half weeks ago (the end of August) I found some sad sad looking dogs on a website that were on the euth list at the Clayton County Animal Control in Georgia. Both puppys are estimated to be about 10 months old. We raised funds to drive down to Georgia from Wisconsin to get them, after we had them pulled and placed into boarding for a week. They received their vaccines while there, and we picked them up on a Sunday 9 days ago. Over the past week they have put on weight, as they were very malnourished and underweight. One was 23lbs, and the other 28lbs when we arrived at our vet here in Wisconsin. They are still trying to figure out what a toy is for, and are coming out of their shells very nicely. Each is a HUGE sweetheart, full of life and love. They truly love everything and one they meet!!
They still need to be neutered, and are on a waiting list for sometime in October with the Dane County Humane society spay me clinic, for a low cost fee. Just under 100$ each pup after the cone of shame, and pain meds are added on for 10$ each. My husband and I are fostering them at our home, I am not working through a rescue, but am working with one that specializes with pit bulls. Pit Crew in Illinois, and I have been getting some amazing advice and support from them and another friend that volunteers for a husky rescue. We have had a few inquiries into their adoptions, but that can not happen until they are fixed and have follow up visits so the vet can clear them at a healthy weight, and in no more immediate need of meds or vet visits minus regular checkups once with their forever homes. The amount I am trying to raise is for those services, as the money raised prior went very fast and we had an extra vet visit that took the money we had set aside for the neuters. They were riddled with worms and needed stronger medication to treat those and get rid of them. These guys will also need to have a fecal test done with in the next couple weeks to verify that the worms are completely gone now. We'd love to say they are completely WORM FREE!!:)
I am figuring out the numbers so if you have questions from donating on the first fundrazr for these two, please feel free to ask!! We are being very transparent on this, because we do not want anyone to question their care. If you can donate just 1$ it all adds up and helps these two go from hours from death at a high kill shelter in Georgia, to being ready to go to loving forever homes here in Wisconsin!! Thank you so so so much, without the help of other animal lovers these two would have been dead two weeks already, and let me tell you, that would have been such a waste of some serious love!!!!!
(I am trying to upload a photo of them in our backyard two days ago, their first time I let them try and play, and they decided to soak in some sunshine and enjoy the grass. It's loading upside down, so I am hoping once this process is finished and set up it rights itself:/ )
