We're HALFWAY THERE!!
Please help us raise the other half of Mikey's NDV Spinal tap treatment

Mikey will be needing some follow up blood work. He is a little anemic from the prednisone he was on for 2 months and his cortisol levels will need to be checked. Hydrotherapy may also be needed to regain limb strength.

PLEASE keep Mikey in your prayers and thoughts.

THANK YOU for helping this wonderful little soul!

My name is Mikey. I was a resident at the county pound in Arizona and became very ill with distemper over the labor day weekend. The volunteers loved me so much, they rallied together to get me into a foster home to help me fight this terrible and relentless disease. I was full of ticks and extremely ill. I was saved from being euthanized.

With love and round the clock care, I fought this distemper with everything I had. I even avoided secondary infections, including pneumonia. My foster mom took me for walks with a friendly cat everyday who knew I was sick. I LOVED my daily walks

Recently, I have regressed with neuro deficits and lost use of my hind legs and am experiencing more intense chorea (head bobbing). I am not a candidate for a wheelchair because of my overall neuro weakness. I am a great eater, love my bones, and want to be wherever my foster mom is, even if I have to drag my way there.

My foster mom is deeply saddened with my regression and sometimes I catch her crying for me because I really miss my walks with her and the cat. My fight is still not over but I have a strong will and she wants to find a way. Many dogs with neurodistemper die. I want to live.

My mom found out that...

There is HOPE for a new neurodistemper treatment that has helped dogs with this horrific disease. It is only offered by a few vets in the country and at Kansas State University Dept of Vet Sciences. It has saved many dogs that even go into the "neuro" phase who were blind and paralyzed. There is no guarantee.. but this treatment is extremely time sensitive!

**UPDATE Mikey had his treatment in Houston!
