Gabby NEEDS YOUR HELP! Please meet our wonderful 15-year-old dynamo, Gabrielle Kaplan, who has just received her first international assignment as part of TEAM USA along with her partner, Carter Griffin.
From the moment she stepped onto the ice at the
tender age of 2, Gabby has exuded an undeniable passion and
extraordinary talent for figure skating. Despite facing numerous
health-related obstacles and challenges throughout her young life, she
has confronted each setback with grace and relentless determination.
In 2023, the idea of pairs skating captured her imagination when someone suggested it, considering her petite stature and vibrant personality on the ice. After just 4 months of partnership with Matthew Soiffer, Gabby and he claimed the Intermediate national title, achieving the highest score recorded by an intermediate pairs team. They were also named to the US National Development Team.
As a lifelong Chicago-area native, this past February, Gabby relocated to Irvine, California, to train with esteemed Olympic and World Champion coach Jenni Meno-Sand and the celebrated Olympic Gold Medalist Brandon Frazier. Together with her partner, Carter Griffin, they have officially qualified for the international selection pool (ISP), meaning they can now receive invitations to international competitions as Team USA representatives.
Enrolled at ICL Academy, a prestigious private high school tailored for elite athletes, Gabby has earned recognition as one of the ICL Fellows and made the honor roll in her freshman year. Alongside her rigorous training, she has actively embraced her role as a speaker and advocate for those with Immune Deficiency, sharing her journey through speaking engagements and educational videos. Her health journey was also featured on the well-regarded podcast, Child Life On Call.
We are very proud of Gabby and Carter for being able to represent the US in an upcoming international event. This is a lifelong dream for Gabby. Training for figure skating comes with considerable financial demands, and now that Gabby has moved away from home to the far side of the country, the associated costs have become overwhelming. This is why we seek any support you can provide to ease the financial burden of her training and the extensive travel we will be paying for.
