The last three months been more rough than most in my adult life. My car is totalled & I was illegally Evicted.
I was illegally Evicted on December 14th, homeless ( fortunately not out on the streets, but still "doubled up") on Xmas & New Years. They kicked me out, all of a sudden, hustled me out in less than 5 minutes... I didn't even get the opportunity to grab my toothbrush. There was no eviction notice posted-- not 30 days before, not 24hrs before, never. Iwas repeatedly denied access to my possessions by the property manager while I didn't have a place of my own. Not having a place of your own or access to your possessions costs a lot of money. Thankfully, money that I did have at that time. & Eventually I did get over half of my things. But the property manager informed me that yesterday they started throwing the rest of my possessions in the dumpster.
& yes... I am persueing legal counsel.
I'm grateful to have a place to stay now, one where I feel safe around my roommates & the rent is usually affordable for me. But just when I thought I was out of the rough patch, my car was totalled.
My car was fully totalled on February 6th due to having a tire blow out on the highway, having to leave it on a very narrow shoulder of the highway, & leaving the hazards on in Hope's that it wouldn't get hit by the semi trucks usually on that stretch of the highway. I was real scared of getting hit by a car myself, and had to run cross multiple lanes of the highway to make sure I was safe. My battery died by the time I was able to move it from that location, which resulted in my electric power steering going out. Getting that fixed would cost me about as much as I paid for the car (1,500) , and I simply do not got enough money to do that. To complicate things more, the place that I live right now is about a half hour commute from my current job. When friends cant give me rides, I have to pay 30 dollars for a Uber/Lyft to get back since it's not safe to take the bus/walk alone at night & it would take me over 2 hours, even if I was safe to do so. Not having a functioning car costs a lot of money too, and a lot of time.
Yes, I am looking for work closer to where I live, I even have a interview/training day set up at one spot. But I still do not feel safe walking/taking the bus home alone after dark, especially due to trauma/PTSD. It's not a smart option in general.
My goal is to get a reliable used car & replace some of my possessions (furniture, appliances, etc)
Before all of this happened to me I had over 2 grand in my checking account. I was doing good in general. I was helping other people out as often as I could. I just wanna get stable enough to get back on that level again.
Frankly, right now I'm flat broke, I can't even reliably get to a food pantry & back.
If you choose to donate, it means a lot to me & your money will only go to things that are completely necessary for my survival, if not to the car & replacing my possessions. If you can't donate, I get that. But if you know of any community resources I could utilize please let me know, that would help a lot too!
