Hey friends! Brenna here with a huge favor to ask. I am fundraising for a service dog and I need your help.

I have dealt with chronic debilitating illnesses since I was very young. My current treatments are only keeping me borderline functioning, but unfortunately I am dealing with a new wave of disabling symptoms that keep me horizontal for days on end. Having been through years of diagnostic testing I know how hard the road is ahead.

A few months ago I noticed that our recently adopted shelter dog was alerting to changes in my heart rate. Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome is only one of the illnesses I have been diagnosed with. It causes my blood to pool and heart rate to jump 40+ bpm when I go from resting to standing. This can cause me to pass out and potentially hurt myself.

My family adopted Tesla in December of 2018 with a torn CCL, after she had been bounced from home to home and left at the humane society. One hug and we were all smitten. Tesla had surgery days later and we began the recovery/bonding process. Her rehabilitation took months and involved the entire family.

She is a sweet young dog with the temperament and drive for service dog work. While she is already helping me everyday with night time anxiety and insomnia, I see so much potential in her. Tesla and I have found a local program that helps people like me train their own service dogs and she was professionally evaluated,

Here is where I need your help.

Service dog training is expensive. There is only so much I can do on my own and with this training she would be able to provide important tasks such as allergy detection, cardiac alerts, and retrieve help should something happen to me. This training would help me gain back some independence that I lost.

All money collected will be going to the cost of her training as well as cost of necessary equipment (harness, treats, poop bags, travel, etc.)

While training a dog for service work is a long path I am fully dedicated to it. Training with her is something I quite enjoy already as it builds both of our confidence and creates a stronger bond between us.
