Kumina has been living in the streets of Malaysia with lung & gum complications, unplanned pregnancies & unsuccesful births before I rescued her in late 2015. She is one of the 30+ stray cats that I rescued. Currently under my care while waiting to be adopted.
On one peaceful typical caturday, while she was bird-watching, there was a few technicians came to the house to fix our broadband connection. As a very timid cat, Kumina panic at the very first sight of these strangers. She climbed onto one of her bedroom window & fell (or jumped?) from the 5th floor.
Her X-Ray results showed that she had multiple fractures at the right hind limb (femoral neck, tibia-fibula), left hind limb tarsal joint and left ischium. In addition to that, she has an open wound at her left hind limb where a part of her tarsal joint was poking out from the skin.
After 5 different vets, she was finally hospitalized at St. Angel Medical Centre, Puchong & underwent a surgery on the next week. Surgical repair of the right tibia-fibula fracture was done by inserting an intramedullary (IM) pin. The open wound at the left tarsal joint was managed by daily cleaning & bandaging.
After the surgery, she was sick. She had flu and developed some tounge ulcer. Her pain killer was too strong for her, she drooled & had foamy mouth. She was dehydrated & was put on IV drip for the next few days.
She was discharged from the medical centre & was brought to another vet for post-surgery care for another week. Unfortunately her pin had moved & stuck out more that it should. Currently waiting for the vet's decision on their next strategy to fix her again.
The cost for her treatment from day one until 24th January is MYR 2,587.47 (approx. USD 590). I anticipate more cost to come due to the recent mishap and also her extensive post-op recovery care. Thus, I'm trying to raise MYR 3,500 = USD 800 to cover the total cost for Kumina. If the total cost is less than what has been received, the excessive amount will be used to support the needs of my other 11 foster cats under my care. From a pregnant stray with lung & gum problem to a very healthy (but timid) indoor (foster) cat, Kumina yearns to go home & walk and run around the house with her roommate, Kelly.
