It came to our attention that there was a cat hoarding/neglect situation in a warehouse space at 4th/alamitos. The "owners" abandoned the cats here. One of my pet sitting clients/friend rents space near by and heard about this/ she put the property manager in touch with me. Then he put the volunteer who's been feeding/ cleaning cat area up in touch with me. I went to meet them last night at 10PM and after seeing the conditions I knew we needed to just act on this situation. The property manager demanded the cats be out by Thursday, he has an exterminator coming for the property and needs to clear it out. The cats are scattered all throughout this very cluttered and messy area. Fleas are rampant, they're all suffering flea anemia, dehydration and malnutrition (despite the volunteers best efforts to help them in last weeks). There are two males and four females in this area, all non vetted. So our first goal was to catch them all and get them to the vet (teamwork and fast grabs by me then Joanne Kwast and I secured them into carriers).

One of the cats, who I've named Lilac (cover photo), has such severe skin and upper respiratory issues (flea allergy dermatitis + filthy living conditions) that she cannot be spayed for a month. Cyan has a significant burn mark on her tongue from biting an electrical wire- miracale she's still alive). We also found out the neighbors took two mom cats and 7 kittens. So, between midnight last night and this morning we have launched our full effort to help them. We lined up space at SNPLA in Pico Rivera and at Uptown Animal Hospital today and have 8 total female cats PLUS the neighbors month old puppy, Doug getting fixed today : D
These cats are very adoptable and sweet despite the fact that they were abandoned and are living in a filthy warehouse area. They're in rough shape but with your help we will get them all back to full health and into happy homes! I estimate the cost will be $125 (low end... One cat at least needs antibiotics and possible blood work... Not included in this estimation). All receipts will be posted for publivc view <3
Please consider helping in any way you can! They also need FOSTER HOMES/ADOPTERS! This is truly another example of the Long Beach Community coming together yet again to make a difference for animals!
