On Saturday, June 14th Lizzie was critically injured in our home. Our pet sitter was outside with another dog and the incident was not witnessed. Lizzie was in the living room where Ox and Rain share a crate. Lizzie has free roam while people are home so this is common. We assume the cats were up to their usual antics and Rain began to bark. Lizzie assuming it is her duty to keep everything under control most likely ran to their crate to tell them to chill out. Ox, Rain, Lizzie and Cappy play together inside and out. We monitor all interactions as good pet owners do. There have never been issues even over toys or treats. When Lizzie approached the crate, we assume Ox became excited too and together with Rain, bent the crate and came out. We don’t know what happened next. When our sitter returned inside, Lizzie was injured. Since our sitter was outside, she did not see the incident. Knowing her, she would have intervened and mostly likely would have become injured too. Ox was pacing in the office. Rain was sitting in the crate while the front panel door was face down in the floor. Valentino was checking on Lizzie. At this point Lizzie was up and walking around. Our sitter called us immediately and we called in back up support for her, not knowing the extent of Lizzie's issues. In the meantime, we found out that Cappy was injured too although not near as severe as Lizzie. When our back up support arrived, they rushed Lizzie to Happy Tails ER Vet. She is in critical condition and her prognosis is guarded. She is sedated and on heavy pain meds. We do not know the full extent of her injuries. The next 3 days are critical for swelling. Once she is stable they can address her wounds.

Jeremy and I were at the beach celebrating father's day and our 1st year anniversary. When we received the call, we rushed home. We saw Lizzie and she is in terrible shape. Seeing your little princess fighting for her life will bring you to your knees. Given our turbulent year, we cant do this alone. We need your help to save Lizzie!

Lizzie goes with us into school systems and into the community to talk to kids about pet responsibility. We'd been saving a thank you packet from a recent visit to a local pre-k to open with our daughter. We opened it last night knowing those little voices would be singing Lizzie's praises...and they were! "My favorite part was petting Lizzie" was the theme on all of the notes. Lizzie is one of a kind and a true gem. She is Daddy's little princess and Mom's little snuggler. Please help us help her.
