ALL DONATIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! As of Friday June 20th you will be able to make CASH donations through Northside bank to the "Clay Long Hope Fund" at their Calhoun, Cartersville and Adairsville branches !!!! You may also contact us with any questions at PrayersforClay@gmail.com
As some of you have heard Clay Long is now in the ICU at Grady Memorial Hospital.
He was taken by ambulance after a State Trooper pulled him over for failure to maintain lane. At which point the officer realized something wasnt quite right. Clay didnt know what day it was or even the time of day and then Clay passed out. The officer called for EMS. Clay had to be resuscitated, was transported to Cartersville hospital and then later transfered by Life flight to Grady.
Clay has been diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria).
He has undergone several surgeries already and will continue to have surgery daily until his body can't handle any more. He is being kept sedated due to the discomfort and extreme pain. He is also on dialysis. At this point most of his glute muscles have been removed and now they are working down his leg.
Clay has full custody of his daughter Kambri and lives with Les and Erin Prine. They are going to do everything they can to take care of Kambri financially through this difficult time. She is currently staying with family. We are asking for help to take care of any expenses while Clay fights for his life and continues to try and recover to the best of his abilities.
Thank you so much for your help !!
Friends and family of Clay
Update 6-11-14 @7pm
Update on Clay: He's still in ICU in critical condition. After tonight, he will have had 4 surgeries in 4 days. The doctors are working non-stop to stop the bacteria from spreading. He has shown a few small signs of hope today, which for family, is a complete blessing! He still has an extremely long battle ahead of him, and by no means is out of the woods, yet! All of your prayers seem to be helping, just don't stop! We still need a miracle, so please, keep lifting him up! thank you so much - Les and Erin
Update 6-13
Clay is holding is own and vitals are staying stable. He had another surgery this morning and they had to amputate on of his feet. They are doing everything they can to stay ahead of this crazy stuff. KEEP PRAYING!!!
Update 6/15/14
Things are looking up!! Happy Father's Day Clay!!!! Clay was responsive for part of the day and was able to see friends and family who were there for support! He is still on the ventilator and dialysis. He has made it two days now surgery free!!! Thats fabulous news!!!! Please say an extra pray for continued improvement and a Huge Happy 6th Birthday to Kambri tomorrow!! Keep up the sharing and donations!! Thanks again!!!! Julie
Update!! 6-17-14
Clay is being taken off 24/7 dialysis and moving to a 3 a day dialysis plan. He is also being moved to the burn unit. They are better equipped to deal with the wounds and keeping down infection there. And praise GOD we are day 4 of no surgery!!!! Nothing but positive!!! Kambri had an awesome birthday party last night . Thanks for all that attended and who say a extra little prayer for her. Keep sharing and donating !!! Clay has a long recovery ahead but he can do it! Thanks Julie
Update 6-19-14
Clay had another surgery yesterday. This was to " clean up and wash" all of the wounds that he currently has. His kidneys are still not functioning for now but the dialysis is taking care of that issue. He gets dialysis for 4 hours 2-3 times a day at which point he can have no visitors. Things here in the burn unit are a totally different animal, and that is AWESOME for him! He is getting the fabulous care that he deserves germ free! Visitors must wear gowns and gloves to even enter the room. I am going to post a picture of Clay's fabulous Girfriend Beth in her visitation attire that we took our first time in the unit. He will have the same cleaning procedure done again tomorrow. Continued prayers for Clay!!!! He's a fighter!
Update 6-26-14
Clay had another surgery yesterday. It only lasted an hour and a half! Thats fabulous news!! They will begin to decrease his sedation this week and then hopefully move towards skin grafts starting next week or the following week!!!! The nurses arent very fond of Beth trying to talk to him but he did manage to smile and say ( mouth the words) that he was a rockstar!! :-)
Update 6-30-14
Today is a great day!!! Today was the begining of healing with our first skin graft!!!!! Extra prayers that everything continues at such a great pace and for the pain that is about to begin. They are starting to do physical therapy and all of the skin grafting is extremely painful. Over all it was a pretty good relaxing weekend. Keep up the prayers and keep sharing we need to get these donations !!!
