After establishing family life in Canada for the past 7 years, Katrina recently found herself in the middle of an un-expected separation. Faced with very few options, she moved with her three young children back to the United States. With minimal financial resources at her disposal the move was basic, and was limited to necessities. Her small trailer only had room for a dining room table, two beds, dishes, and a limited amount of clothing. She has been diligent and frugal with the resources she has establishing their new life in St. Louis. She works from home, but any money she makes is quickly used supplying basic needs. As you can imagine, some weeks have been better than others financially for this single parent family.
Since the time she has been back in the U.S. she has not been able to acquire the extra money needed to return to Canada to retrieve the rest of her and her children’s belongings. These belongings include precious possessions like photos and keepsakes, and other basic items like seasons of clothing, dressers, toys, books, and games. As you know, the cost of photos and keepsakes is immeasurable, and cannot be replaced. As for the other items she desires to retain, her current financial situation does not afford her the ability to simply replace them. The replacement cost is far greater than any moving costs. Unfortunately, for her and the children the threat of these items being discarded is real. The deadline for this happening is fast approaching, and she needs to retrieve them as soon as possible.
Moreover, Katrina is in need of legal counsel. Without getting into details, her situation is unique in that there are laws governing both parties in two separate nations. As you know, legal counsel seems unattainable to anyone who is struggling to cover the necessities.
Based on the immediate needs of this young, single-parent family trying to re-establish their lives we are planning a fundraiser with 100% benefits going directly to Katrina. Our goal is to raise enough funds through the sale of items or direct donations to pay for legal counsel, and allow Katrina to retain all of her belongings. Any money that can be raised will be received as a great blessing, and will be much appreciated! Please consider helping this single mother bring back familiarity in her house, and legally establish a strong, permanent foundation for their future.
