Project Walk is a facility for spinal cord injury patients where you receive one-on-one intense therapy sessions with a certified trainer.

On October 15th, 2007 at the age of 18, I was in a car accident that left me paralyzed from the neck down. I was diagnosed as an incomplete C5 quadriplegic. I was air lifted to Albany Med Hospital where I had undergone a 6 hour surgery. I was in the ICU for 50 days due to complications. My left lung had collapsed and was full of fluids. I was dependant on a breathing machine for 32 days before I was given a trach. During my stay I had to relearn everything. How to talk, feed myself, wash my face, hold a fork or spoon. Eventually after my left lung had cleared up I was transferred to Sunnyview Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady where insurance covered a 30 day stay. During this stay I had to relearn how to dress myself, sit with balance, retrain my legs to move with electrodes, everything you would learn as a toddler and more. But 30 days is not enough. Even today insurance covers 19 visits, but that's 19 visits for the year.

My goal now is to gain as much as I can through Project Walk's intense exercise program. Project Walk is a facility for spinal cord injury patients where you will receive one-on-one intense therapy sessions with a certified trainer. They take you back to the basics like learning to roll over, sit on your own, and crawl. But they make it tough so you can become stronger.

Project Walk Orlando is the location I would like to go to do the intense exercise program. I will spend 4 weeks there and exercise 3 hours a day for 5 days.

Please help me in reaching this goal so I can become one step closer to walking one day! :)
