Sirianni/Schaper Family Story

Hello I am Antonio Sirianni . I am a Freshman at St. Joseph regional H.S. and would like to share the unforeseen circumstances that my family recently has gone through. Over the last two years, my family and I have gone through some unexpected events that have dramatically altered our lives. In March of 2012, my mother Dolores felt a small lump which was eventually diagnosed as breast cancer. On top of this, she lives with Multiple Sclerosis and takes care of my three step brothers and sister. On April 29th, on a golf outing, my step father Fred was struck in the head and run down by HIS OWN golf cart knocking him unconscious and changing our lives, forever. After several visits to the ER, neurologists and other specialists , Fred was diagnosed with traumatic brain injury (TBI). He has severe memory problems (amnesia in certain areas, memories come and go), difficulty problem solving with things that used to be easy for him, difficulty with speech, driving, cooking, shaving, showering. His nerve damage is so extensive that he is in constant pain. . A once intelligent and successful business owner is no longer able to work, and is permanently disabled. On January of 2013, my mom was let go from her job with no explanation and with no benefits. My family’s current situation is difficult, to say the least. At this point there is absolutely no money left to feed a family of six. We were even unsure if I could return to St. Joe’s after the winter break as my tuition is insufficiently paid for me to continue the spring semester. My family’s daily living expenses are insurmountable. We live in constant fear of what will happen next as my mom’s unemployment insurance has been exhausted.

I love being a student at St. Joe’s Regional HS. I am in all AP classes and feel that I am an integral part of this spiritual community. I’m asking you to please help my family dig out of this financial hole and help me to continue being a student at St. Joe’s Regional HS. I pray that 2014 will be a better year for my family.
