On the evening of Saturday 4th January 2014, my brother let his wee Jack Russell out for his business into his own yard in Hull, Quebec.  While he was out there, a man came along with a pitbull who was unmuzzled (despite the law being all pitbulls in Ontario and Gatineau-Hull, Quebec MUST be muzzled when outside of their own home) and was on a long retractable leash (the law in Gatineau-Hull is that it must be no more than 2 metres in length).  JackJack went towards the pair of them as he's a friendly little guy and no doubt wanted to say hi.  Without provacation or warning, the pitbull attacked JackJack and bit him on his side, throwing him around like a rag doll.  Finally released, JackJack ran to my brother who immediately recognized that he needed emergency vet care.

THIS IS AFTER FIRST EMERGENCY VISIT:

He borrowed money from his boss (very nice boss!) to get him to an after hours emergency hospital which of course he's now indebted to his boss (we all know how bad this can feel!).  This cost him just under $900.  Since that time, JackJack's wounds have gotten infected and smell pretty bad, he is stitched up but has had a stitch come out.  There is swelling and oozing and he needs emergency vet care again.  After Christmas, with 3 children, my brother is struggling to come up with all this.  We know that JackJack is going to need not only more medication, but treatment on these deep wounds and probably re-stitching.  JackJack is his very best of friend and he shouldn't have to lose his buddy due to some person not following the law and allowing his dog to attack.

As for the pitbull, my brother has been worrying so much about JackJack that he hasn't had a chance to deal with the owner and the pitbull but it IS going to be sorted - he WILL be reported to the authorities (if the vet hasn't done so already) and it will be investigated as to whether or not this pitbull has anything wrong with him that is affecting JackJack's inability to heal what with already infected wounds.

PLEASE help my brother out - family and friends are doing the best we can to help but we all know this time of year is a tough time of year.  Any and ALL help is sincerely appreciated.  PLEASE, any amount would help in his further treatment!! I am uploading a picture of JackJack's wound as of tonight as the main picture for this campaign - as you can see, its getting worse and FAST! :(

THANK YOU AGAIN ONE AND ALL!!!! HERE IS A PICTURE OF JACKJACK IN HEALTHIER HAPPIER DAYS!
