After spending 17 years in prison for a crime he had nothing to do with, Obie Anthony walked out of jail a free man on October 4, 2011. He wore clothes the jail gave him, and walked away without any money, ID, or even a pair of shoes. Obie is forced to live with his attorney because there is no other viable option. He lost 17 years of his life because the police hid evidence of his innocence, the prosecutor let its star witness lie, and his own defense attorney refused to investigate the case and failed to uncover evidence that Obie was innocent and that prosecution's witness, a pimp who was a convicted killer, was lying and was possibly the real killer in this case as well. Please give a little to Obie. Twenty dollars means almost nothing to you, but to him, it means a meal he's been dreaming about for 17 years, a piece of clothing he doesn't have, or a chance to catch up on technology that the rest of the country takes for granted. Obie needs clothes, a phone, shoes, and money to live until he finds a job. In short, everything that makes your life easy and that you use on a day to day basis, he is lacking. Obie worked in prison to improve himself, reading self-help books, studying theology, taking any job available and making 11 cents an hour. He has done everything he can to improve himself while half of his life was stolen, and now he needs a helping hand. You can help give Obie start a new life, the life that he should have had all along. Google Obie Anthony to learn more about his case.
