Stephen Swainson is the kind of man who loves fiercely, protects those closest to him, and stands by what he believes is right, no matter how difficult the road becomes.

On September 24, 2020, he was forced into a moment he never chose, and has spent six years paying the price for surviving it.

Stephen has been incarcerated for the past 6 years following an altercation in downtown Denver. He was riding a scooter downtown when he was confronted and attacked by three intoxicated, aggressive men, and he has always maintained that he acted in self-defense.

Now, after years of fighting to have his case heard, the Colorado Court of Appeals has reversed his case. For our family, this is the first real opportunity in years to see him come home.

But the fight isn't over.

We urgently need help raising money for bond and an attorney so he can be released and continue navigating the legal process with proper representation. After six years of incarceration, we simply don't have the resources to cover these costs on our own.

This is about a man with a family who misses him dearly, and six years of our lives that can never be given back. It's about finally having the chance to sit across from him at our own kitchen table, rather than waiting for a prison visit or a phone call.
