About Billa

Billa is a remarkable individual who has shown immense courage and resilience. Born in Hyderabad, India, they arrived in Montreal, Canada, in 2021, seeking refuge from persecution and a chance at a better life. As a gender nonconforming, trans feminine first-generation Canadian, Billa has faced numerous challenges. Despite these obstacles, their journey has been one of profound growth—mentally, intellectually, and physically.

Over the past three years, Billa has become a cherished member of the Montreal queer community, known for their kindness, intellect, and the chosen family they have built. They are currently in their final fall term at McGill University, working tirelessly to complete their Master’s in Materials Engineering.

The Challenge

Unfortunately, Billa’s journey has been marred by the harsh realities of transphobia, sexism, and misogyny. These barriers have made it incredibly difficult for them to find stable, well-paying employment. As they approach the finish line of their degree, they are facing a series of financial challenges that threaten to derail their progress.

Billa has exhausted their savings and is struggling to cover essential expenses. They need our help to make it through this critical period so they can focus on completing their degree and building the future they have worked so hard to achieve.
