Currently my only mode of transportation is my partner's van, which has given us some big and extremely risky issues. It is 27 years old, and the repairs would cost more than the van is worth. We had to have the brakes fixed less than a year ago and they are starting to fail again, making driving long distances especially dangerous.

I have figured out that to get a gas powered 150cc scooter, it would cost less than it would to repair the van; even though we'd need to insure it and update my license, it would be overall more cost efficient especially in terms of gas usage and mileage. It would also be a great investment in terms of allowing me to take delivery jobs and earn an income. The goal total would cover the scooter, insurance, helmet/safety gear, and accessories I would need to be to do DoorDash or something similar.

The only issue is, and you'll know this if you've heard any of my story before, is that my partner and I are disabled and cannot earn a stable income on our own; especially when we are lacking in resources and government assistance. This is where mutual aid helps; because without you, we risk going without our meds, and having to spend money we don't have to get food delivered to our home so we can try to avoid putting our lives at risk by driving a vehicle with unreliable brakes.
