Hello friends and family,
Jack grew up playing baseball because that's what I did, but his freshman year he decided to play volleyball instead. He already liked it, and it took about a week for him to fall in love with the game and he has not looked back. As a freshman, Jack started on varsity, where the team made it all the way to the state finals where they unfortunately lost. Jack made the 4A all region first team his freshman year and made the 4A all conference 2nd team. As a sophomore, the team made it all the way to the semifinals, where we unfortunately lost to the eventual champ. Jack made 4A all region first team, 4A all conference first team, and was the 4A region player of the year. This is Jack's second season playing for a club team. Jack's goal is to earn a volleyball scholarship so he can play in college and playing for a club is the best way to help make that happen.
Lincoln is a basketball player at heart but has decided to also play volleyball. Lincoln is a freshman this year, I call him the baby because he is already 6"4" (he doesn't really like that nickname but I love it). Lincoln's goal is to play varsity volleyball this year at school with his older brother. And that would be a dream come true for Mom and Dad. In order to prepare for this goal, Lincoln is playing for the same club, but on a different team. Lincoln's potential for volleyball is very high, and his goal of playing on varsity with his brother is very obtainable. The school team is very good, very young, and have high expectations of winning a state championship or two the next few years.
Both club teams have high expectations. They will be traveling to California twice for tournaments, one of those will be a qualifying tournament for Nationals. Both teams expect to travel to Utah this summer to compete in Nationals, where they could win a national title for their age group.
I wish club sports was more obtainable for families, but that is not the case. You have to pay for gym time, equipment, officials, memberships, coaching, tournaments, etc... I wish kids did not have to play club sports, but for now it has become a necessary evil for athletes that want to succeed in high school and or play in college. (I can rant about youth sports all day, but I will not waste your time here). I also wish I did not have to ask for help, but I do!
I decided to do crowd funding, so people would know what our goal is and know that we are not raising more than our goal to go on vacation :) all the money raised is for the Hubbard boys club volleyball fees alone. Also, we are only raising the club fees, we are not raising extra for travel. I know inflation is hurting all of us, so if you have better things to do with your money please do those things. But if you have $5 to spare, every dollar counts! Any contribution would be a huge blessing to our family.
If there is any way we can help you, let us know. I have food connections, I know most of the best places to eat, and I am above average cook for a husband. I can offer baseball lessons if you have a young athlete playing baseball, I can also teach volleyball, or my boys can teach basketball. We would love to help. I have coached baseball and volleyball at the high school level and my boys have been playing basketball for 10 years and counting.
Thank you!
Dave & Katy
