QUICK OVERVIEW
What does the mythology and spirituality coming out of Africa look
like in today's world? What does it teach us, and how does this deep
connection and knowledge tie in to the Ancient African Skywatchers?
Ancient African Skywatchers connects our human spiritual
awakening to sacred geometry in nature and light paths of the sun. Can
we awaken our deepest memories from a forgotten civilisation at the
bottom of Africa?
These ancient sacred sites are possibly the oldest yet found in
the world. Like Stonehenge, the Giza Pyramids, Göbekli Tepe, and Machu
Picchu, they align with and "watch" the sun and stars.
Dean's research further links with ancient myth and indigenous stories
from around the world.
What's remarkable is that the sacred sites are aligning now with the solstice and equinox, after 21 000 years! Why now?
The Skywatcher sacred sites are potentially the precursors to other sacred sites around the world.
FILM SYNOPSIS
Origins of Consciousness is a film about Dean Liprini’s transformative journeys through Southern Africa, and how he discovers sacred sites that last aligned with the sun, moon and stars 21 000 years ago.
What are the indigenous myths that tie in to these sacred sites, and what can we discover from the spirituality and connection to the land these ancient people left for us to decipher?
He is determined to unearth the mysteries of what points towards a lost civilisation, and starts his journey as a young man, giving up his job to follow what he calls the pathways of the sun.
At his most comfortable, Dean is barefoot and in the wilderness, measuring the landscape with the cosmos. At home he is balancing family life with the arduous task of documenting his discoveries.
A filmmaker follows him over mountains where few have been, to see how the sites line up with the solstice sun, and rising stars, experiencing these powerful solar line ups through his eyes.
Dean dedicates the last 30 years of his life to find and understand the mysterious stone monoliths and carved faces hidden in plain sight in the Southern African landscape, earning him the name ‘Man of the Mountain’, or Mtabeni, first given to him by his African teacher, and chief medicine man: Baba Credo Mutwa. He calls these places sacred sites, as he believes ancient man performed ritual ceremonies here.
As he starts to perceive nature’s cycles, while living off the land, he discovers his intuition, innate abilities and potentially the birthplace of human spiritual consciousness.

DIRECTORS INTENTION
Fourteen years since my first documentary, and working in the
film industry in the commercial realms of fashion and corporate, I
was ready to explore my first love again; film-making. My
fascination with Dean Liprinis’ work has grown from my infatuation
with nature and magic. In a time where consumerism and perpetual
work is taking its toll on society worldwide, going back to our
ancient roots seemed the best place for answers to a desperately
needed change in my view. I wanted to offer a new vision, one that
stems from a deep-rooted memory of our collective consciousness on
this beautiful planet we call home. To somehow dislodge the smog of
our daily lives to reveal a true and innocent past that we can build
on.
Filming with Dean at the power places he calls ‘Sacred Sites’, has been visually spectacular. More prominent than this, is the undeniable feeling of peace and expansion of a Solstice sunset at a sacred site that seems to have been used for just this purpose for thousands of years. My obsession to convey this quiet feeling and message of hope, has spurred me forward through the years of capturing each of the main sites over these very particular solar line-ups. It is my unrelenting desire to create a gentle rift in the minds of all who watch this film. To understand our conscious roots and build a vision of humanity in a new paradigm of love and care for all on this planet, as is the way our forefathers seemed to live tens of thousands of years ago.
The evidence of a lost civilization is overwhelmingly tantalizing, and asks the question, what is the value of going backwards? I hypothesize that in order to move forward as a species with a chance of survival, we need to build on our roots. What is most fascinating to me is that our greatest chance of successful survival is through our conscious beginnings. These original conscious behaviors seen from this evidence are synonymous with every human on this planet, no matter your race, creed or religion.
Attempting to answer such vast questions in one sweeping film may seem an ambitious task. For me, this film is my release, an answer to the call of a dying race, and some light on the perpetual need to know, ‘who am I’? - Nicole Felbert
