Why I am asking for a little help from my friends.
A massive thank you to all of you who helped get me, my son Jo and our rescue staffie Alfie to the tropics We are so grateful. We just about survive on the bit of money I earn from writing and I will do a bit of online teaching too.
This campaign is not for me. This is for Alfie and the other animals we meet on Koh Lanta. I will not ask for anything more for mr because you lovely people have helped enough.
The situation is that we have to rent a motorcyle to do the shopping and school runs. This is cheap - Just 24 pounds a month. However, this means our beloved rescue staffie Alfie cannot join us when we go to the local beach or anywhere else on the island. It breaks my heart when I look into his sad eyes when we leave the house knowing he will be lonely and that he wants to join us. When we return his tail wags madly and he jumps for joy.
Of course he goes for short walks with me near the house, but it would be fantastic if he could go swimming in the sea once more and play with his friends the beach dogs. Another issue is that he has arthritis in his left hind leg and the vet has recommended supplements and daily swimming.
Everyday, we meet stray dogs and cats and I am getting to know where they hang out. Rather than nipping into the shop to buy food I can take a container of food to feed them.
Plus, if we meet any injured or distressed animals we have a way of transporting them to the vet at the local sanctuary.
Well, that is our plea. Please do not go out of pocket during these difficult times but if you can chip in a quid or two to make this happen you will be rewarded with lovely videos Of Alfie swimming in the sea nad strays receiving a much-needed scoff.
I am writing book two very quickly and will be publishing short ebooks about adventures in paradise but feel it will still be months before we have enough cash to buy this form of transportation.
I feel five-hundred pounds will get us a basic motorbike and sidecar. Obviously if we go above the target we will buy a better model. Also we must think of a name for our animal rescue machine xx
