We are Tori and Ilsa. This is likely a familiar story for many. Recently one of our family members, our mom/auntie Sue, was diagnosed with cancer. Cancer can make us feel helpless, so we wanted to take action to support our mom/auntie through this difficult time and provide hope to others in her same situation. Starting Sept 1st, she begins 6 weeks of radiation and chemotherapy treatment. In solidarity, we will be shaving our heads, so we can be three bald eagles together :)
We will also be raising money for a charity of our mom/aunt's choice for the month of September. She has chosen Wellspring Calgary, a charity that provides a comprehensive range of support, resources and programs to anyone living with cancer and their families. There are two parts to the cancer journey: medical and emotional. Wellspring helps heal the mind, heart and spirit, providing emotional, psychological and practical support to cancer patients free of charge (more information can be found here). Just $150 provides a member with access to Wellspring's resources, support and programs for a month. This part of the journey is very near and dear to our mom/auntie, who is facing these challenges firsthand. Please make a donation, however small or large, in support of this important charity and to provide encouragement and hope to our mom/auntie and other cancer patients like her.
The actual baldification of our heads will take place on Sunday, September 13th @ 2:00 PM MDT (click the link here to view the livestream!). We will be shaving off more than 34 inches of hair and it will be donated to Locks of Love, which provides hair prosthetics free of charge to financially disadvantaged children suffering from hair loss.
