I've been following the "Ark of Theodore" for more than a year now, and I'm amazed at the effort and dedication they put into the care of their rescues. 

However Greece is going through hard times and there are more and more abandoned dogs: people who can't afford to keep their dogs, or simply don't want them anymore.

The refuge houses at present more than 80 dogs, and it breaks my heart that they're having trouble finding enough money to feed them.

It costs 50€ per day to feed the pack, and I would like to raise enough to see them through the next three months at least...although a year would be better! :)

The money raised here will go towards feeding the dogs.

And of course, if you want to adopt a Greek stray, do contact them!

Η Κιβωτός του Θοδωρή είναι ένα εθελοντικό φιλοζωικό σωματείο που συντηρεί καταφύγιο με αδέσποτα σκυλιά σε ιδιωτικό χώρο που μας έχει παραχωρηθεί στο χωριό Θυμιανά της Χίου.Το καταφύγιο αυτή την στιγμή φιλοξενεί παραπάνω από 80 σκυλάκια και 110 συνολικά σε καθημερινή βάση με συνεχή αγώνα και προσπάθεια που γίνεται από τους 5 εθελοντές που το αποτελούν. Επίσης εθελοντική βοήθεια προσφέρεται και σε αδέσποτες γατούλες που φιλοξενούνται σε σπίτια εθελοντών.Το σωματείο μας φυσικά είναι νόμιμο με εκλεγμένο ΔΣ και έχει 1,5 περίπου χρόνο λειτουργίας. Σε συνεργασία με τον Φιλοζωικό Σύλλογο Χίου καταγγέλλει περιστατικά κακοποίησης , συμμετέχει σε ημερίδες και καμπάνιες ενημέρωσης για τα δικαιώματα των ζώων, προωθεί και οργανώνει εκδηλώσεις με σκυλάκια για υιοθεσία και ενίσχυση του σωματείου.
Σε αυτό το διάστημα λειτουργίας του έχει βρει οικογένεια σε πάνω από 300 αδέσποτα σκυλιά και αρκετές γάτες εντός και εκτός Χίου ( Αθήνα, Θεσσαλονίκη , Οινούσσες) αλλά και στο εξωτερικό ( Βέλγιο , Δανία) ενώ έχει βοηθήσει στην ανεύρεση χαμένων σκυλιών και γατιών και έχει βρει οικογένεια και σε αρκετά δεσποζόμενα ζώα.
Τα μηνιαία μας έξοδα ανέρχονται σε πάνω από 1500 ευρώ για την σίτιση των ζώων που έχουμε στο καταφύγιο για τις θεραπευτικές τους αγωγές , για την συντήρηση του καταφυγίου και σε λοιπά έξοδα.
Βοηθήστε μας για να βοηθήσουμε όσο πιο πολλά ζωάκια μπορούμε.
Ο αγώνας είναι μακρύς ,εθελοντικός και δύσβατος!

Kivotos of Thodori is a voluntary animal welfare association which maintains shelter with stray dogs on private property we have been granted the village Thymiana of Chios. The shelter is currently hosting more than 80 dogs and 110 total daily with continuous struggle and effort made by the five volunteers who constitute it. Also voluntary help offered to stray kittens are hosted on volunteer's houses. Our association is of course legitimate elected to the Board and has about 1.5 runtime. In cooperation with the Association of Animals of Chios denounce cases of abuse , participating in workshops and information campaigns for animal rights , promotes and organizes events with puppies for adoption and strengthening of the association.
During its operation over than 300 stray dogs and several cats have found families in and out of Chios (Athens , Thessaloniki, Oinousses ) but also in abroad ( Belgium , Denmark).
Our monthly costs are more than 1500 euros for the feeding of animals that we have in the shelter ,for their treatments ,for the maintenance of the shelter and other expenses.
