On Sunday August 16, 2015 the most important exhibition of my Art career, (to date), will open to the public at the Art Gallery of Burlington's community gallery. My responsibility as visual artist is to provide an exhibition of world-class contemporary Art that is beautiful, engaging, compelling, and inspiring to a broad audience.
I take this responsibility very seriously.
I am reaching out to you to ask for your help in raising funds for the creation of new, mind-blowing works of Art, that will allow me the opportunity to fulfill my responsibilities as Artist.
Funds raised will help cover material costs related to the creation of new work for this upcoming exhibition, and costs related to supplemental promotion of the event. Although the Art Gallery of Burlington supplies exhibiting artists with a modest stipend and promotional efforts, I wish to go 'above and beyond' so that I may reach the broadest audience possible, and provide each and every visitor with an unforgettable experience through the power of Art.
the exhibition consists of three major components, each having unique costs related to their creation. Each component is detailed below, including the costs related to creating each.
1. Burial Mounds (sculptural component):
Comprised of six separate mounds of hand collected, hand painted, twine bound collected sticks. Each burial mound consists of 365 'starburst' stock clusters. The burial mounds are to be exhibited in the 'flower of life' pattern.
Material costs: paint, twine, burial mound platforms, pall-bearer poles, various hardware for mounting and hanging, transportation costs. Estimated cost: $750.00.
2. Funeral procession for the beloved departed (public participation, performance component):
comprised of a mock funeral procession through the streets surrounding the Art Gallery of Burlington, ending with the installation of one 'burial mound' in the community gallery, AGB. Members of the public are invited to participate in the funeral procession, as an opportunity to build a sense of community and offer remembrance and gratitude for their loved ones, both living and departed.
related costs: varies props for the public, including small hand painted hand drums, hand painted parasols, permit costs, 'thank you' gift costs, choir accompaniment, and police escort costs. Estimated cost: $750.00.
3. Infinite expansion (painting component):
comprised of the hand painting of the entire gallery wall space, in the pattern of the 'flower of life'. Related costs: paint, rollers, tape, brushes. Estimated cost: $500.00
In addition, a portion of funds raised will be used for supplemental promotional materials, including post-card/poster/invitation printing, print/online advertisement, and a minimum of two 'live painting' promotional events in downtown Burlington, leading up to the exhibition opening in August. Estimated cost: minimum $500.00.
