For the past year or so, I've been living with a roommate in the San Francisco Bay Area, establishing myself as a freelance web developer and writer. Unfortunately, over the past several months, household health issues have stretched our finances to the breaking point, and a series of small crises recently mean that we can no longer keep the house, and are both faced with moving out on very short notice.
Support from a number of fantastic friends means that I already have a place to go, and transportation there, but I still have a number of moving costs I need to absorb. I'm raising money to cover costs related to moving my things into storage (including renting a storage space, renting a moving van for large pieces of furniture, and getting adequate packing material), as well as shipping any borrowed items in the house back to their owners (including one who's in the UK) and, ideally, reimbursing my friends for gas costs, toll road costs, and other incidental expenses. Any money raised in excess of moving expenses will go toward ongoing storage costs, paying down my substantial student loan debt, and hopefully paying back into the speculative fiction community through donations to magazines and other fund drives.
