In March 2013, Sandie was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS); A serious blood related disease of the bone marrow.  Working with the medical team at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Sandie was matched with a donor and received a stem cell treatment last May.  Unfortunately, Sandie developed Graft vs. Host disease (GvHD).  This occurs when the donated stem cells attack the body because the body is viewed as foreign by the grafted cells.  The GvHD has caused severe gastro-intestinal problems, as well as other issues for Sandie.  She now travels to Henry Ford Hospital every week to undergo photopheresis, a 3-4 hour process that treats her blood to fight the GvHD.  It is unknown how long Sandie will need to continue this treatment.  This Fundraiser is to help Sandie with the mounting expenses incurred as she continues her travels to Henry Ford Hospital, in her ongoing battle against MDS and GvHD.  Thank you very much in advance for your support and contributions.
