Last year when we set up this campaign we were overwhelmed with the kindness and support that we received from you all.  The funds raised so far have purchased a:

specialised car seat for Harvey

Infinity Tunnel to fullfill harveys sensory needs

Weighted blanket to help Harvey remain calm when focusing

specialised swing for the garden (HE LOVES IT)

a bear Hug vest (speacilised garment to provide Harvey with deep pressure)

Paid for 2 sessions with Brainwave (charity which provides therapy plans to help children with neurological problems reach their potential)

As Harvey grows and develops he is outgrowing some of his existing equipment that he has been using and benefitting from, for instance his trike which he absolutely loves. This trike is specially adapted to suit Harvey and allows him to get exercise to strenghen his muscles and allows us to get out and about as a family. Harveys current trike was kindly donated to us 4 years ago and will be donated back so that another child can benefit from it.

Harvey was born on 13th April 2009 after he stopped moving and became distressed.  He was delivered by emergency section 6 weeks early weighing 3lbs 14oz and spent his first 3 weeks in the neonatal unit in Aberdeen.  When we took Harvey home it was the best day ever and we had a blissful 5 months enjoying our beautiful wee man.  Soon after it became apparent that all was not well with Harvey and we started on the most difficult and emotional roller coaster. Various hospital appointments, tests and scans followed and eventually in December 2010 we were told that Harvey had a rare chromosome abnormality called Idic 15.

Harveys genetic condition causes various neurodevelopmental difficulties, including developmental delay, learning disabilities, visual impairment, low muscle tone and at this time he has no speech.  He amazingly started to walk when he was 3 years and 8 months old, he is unsteady and falls over quite a lot but it is a milestone we weren't sure if Harvey would make and are very proud of the determination he has to reach his goals.  Harvey receives care from physiotherapy, speech and language, occupational therapy, uses leg splints and a wheelchair to get around outside.  He also attends brainwave which is a charity which provides therapy plans to help children like Harvey reach their potential and we carry out this therapy four times a week which takes about an hour at a time.  Harvey is a beautiful little boy who is very loving and gives the best cuddles in the world and we want to make sure that his future is bright, happy and provide him with everything he will need to help him achieve this.

thank you
