Hi dog lovers and friends!

On Saturday night December 7th 2013, Sammy consumed a foreign object that was left at the dog park. When she arrived back home, she immediately regurgitated back her dinner. On first thought, the owners believed that Sammy had just gotten a virus from being out in the cold weather for the past few days. This was even supported with her feeling better after the third day as indicated by her tail wagging, and movement around the house. On the fourth day, however, things turned for the worst and we finally decided that Sammy needed to see a veterinarian.  Sammy was brought into the South Davis Veterinary Center in Davis, CA. After multiple x-rays around the stomach region, doctor concluded that a foreign object was obstructing her small intestines. The object that obstructed her small intestine

The surgery was a success!

During surgery, Doctor Cara Bradley was able to make three incisions in Sammy, and remove the foreign body. The foreign object was a piece of string, wrapped around the pieces of pine needles and leaves. After the surgery, Sammy was referred to Vista Veterinarians, an around the clock hospital that will monitor her and make sure she is on track for a speedy recovery.

The problem we now face

Our initial estimate for this entire operation was that it would run under $1,500. Because Sammy needs more time to recover, and the option of us home monitoring her is out of the question, doctors are expecting her to be there at least till Thursday, December 12, 2013 or even till Friday, depending on her condition. The cost of her bill has already reached a little under $2,000 but quickly approaching the $3,000 total. Our ability to pay the bills for Sammy has been spread thin, with the owners both students and one of them just being laid off. Therefore, we are asking for communities to help donate for Sammy’s cause and bring her home to us.

Thank you for considering a donation to the Help Sammy fund. Our family appreciates all the help that can be given for Sammy to bringing her home back to us. All funds that has been donated via this site will be delivered to Alan Sau and Jennifer Zhai (The owners) minus the small processing fee that PayPal and FundRazr has. Your donation of any amount is welcome as no amount is ever too small!
