Marti Wright hasn't added a story.
I went to four different vets to get a idea of what it will cost for Jenna to have a dental. NOT just a cleaning, but some serious teeth pulling also. One was UC Davis here in California. Believe it or not (since its a teaching school), they were the MOST expensive at $2000.00, and that's only if they do not find any problems with her blood work. The other 3, and one is the vet I am using for Mr.T's Valley Fever, range from $1300.00 and up. My vet that I have been using for Mr.T is the cheapest by far. Even with the senior discounts and other little things, its still going to cost around $1500.00.
I applied for Credit Care, fully expecting them to turn me down. Might as well have, but they only gave me $200.00. (My credit is bad due to a car accident that was not my fault, as the other insurance company took over two years to pay up). So deduct the $200 from the $1500, and that leaves $1300.00.
Blood work is invloved as she is going to be turning 12 in December. My vet had some reservations about doing a dental and teeth pulling on Jenna, but she is in alot of pain. No antibiotics has touched this, and I can't tell if the pain pills are working or not.
She has problems eating now, and I have to either soak her food in hot water, or give her can food. She whinnes and is constantly shivering.
I feel so bad and feel alot of this is my fault. If I had known about Fundrazr last year, I would have done this then. Sooner even I had even an idea of how to go about it.
This all stems from her having Stomatitis from her very first dental cleaning. She came down with it about a month or so after the cleaning. Antibiotics tooks care of the problem then, but it came back in about a month or so. Another round of antibiotics, again it would go away, and again it would come back. Vicious circle. It was to the point that NO antibiotics were working at all.
I tried to get a couple of photos of Jenna's mouth, but its very hard and painful to her to hold up her lips for too long. My son was getting impatienct which didn't help at all. As you can see, this is on the right side of her mouth, she has what looks like poplups, even the vet said that is what they look liked, but didn't elaborate any further without further getting into her mouth to do the actual dental.
