Jada & Jordan (BONDED PAIR) were on their way to MAS where they would have been killed, for they are 13 & 10 yr. old Shih Tzu. They had spent their entire lives OUTSIDE. The owner surrendered them to me. I took them to save their lives. I was told they
Jada & Jordan (BONDED PAIR) were on their way to Memphis Animal Services, a high kill shelter, owner surrender, where they would be taken to the kill room, for they are 13 & 10 yr. old Shih Tzu. They had spent their entire lives OUTSIDE. The owner surrendered them to me. I saved their lives. I was told they were healthy. Both were going to their forever home in NY, until we found they were both extremely ill. Jada had no fur and Hypothyroidism. She fainted on our 1st walk. She would have been dead within a week. She is now being treated with medication (Levothyroxine .1 mg. at $20 per month. She will take this the rest of her life to stay alive. She also had an ear infection requiring medication and antibiotics. (Otomax and Clavamox).
After her spay, it was discovered she had HYDRO UTERUS from over breeding. We thought she was pregnant, but her Uterus was filled with fluid and puss. She is now UTD on shots and healthy. Her fur is growing back. She has to have special food HA from the vet at $157 for a 20 lb. bag.
Jordan was blind from neglected dry eye and he had acid thrown in his face in the backyard of previous owner. He now has his site with prescription Eye Drops 2x daily. These drops cost $55 per month and have to be specially made at People's Pharmacy in Memphis, Tn. He will need these drops the rest of his life. Jordan too had an ear infection and was treated with antibiotics and ear drops. (Otomax and Clavamox).
He also has low platelets and is being treated for Lyme Disease. He is on his 3rd round of antibiotics. His platelets are rising slowly. To keep him eating so he can take the Doxycycline, ($55 per mo.) he takes appetite stimulants 2x daily@$30 per month.
He suffers from anxiety disorder and takes Clomipramine 25 mg. 2x daily at $46 per mo.
He also eats special food HA (Hypo-Allergenic)
This expense has fallen directly on me, and I am NOT a rescue. I took the dogs under false pretenses, told they were health and I had them a home. I am determined to help them get well to go to a good home one day.
I have already accrued over $2000 for vetting, medications, special food, heartworm preventive and tick and flea repellants for these precious dogs.
I have 4 dogs of my own, 2 which are also special needs, and very expensive. Now I have 2 more very ill dogs, that were misrepresented to me as healthy. I could NOT let them go to the shelter to DIE!.
Both are getting better everyday. We are hoping to keep the Lyme Disease from affecting Jordan's Kidneys and heart.
I have maxed out my credit cards caring for these 2 precious dogs that deserved much better than the life they lived previously.
Please help me pay my credit cards and continue vetting them to get them well so they can be adopted.
Thank you.
