It is incredibly hard to find the words to say that the person you love the most is suddenly facing a severe cancer battle. For our family, that moment came with Patrick’s diagnosis of synovial sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Fewer than 500 people in the United States are diagnosed with synovial sarcoma each year, making it one of the rarest soft tissue cancers.
Anyone who knows Patrick knows his strength, determination, and unwavering commitment to our family. He is approaching this battle with the same courage and resilience that have defined his life. We are choosing hope every day, trusting his medical team, and taking this journey one step at a time.
Since hearing those words, our lives have become centered on one goal: giving him every possible chance to overcome this disease. Patrick's treatment plan is extensive and will include multiple rounds of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, a major surgery to remove the tumor, additional chemotherapy afterward, and the hospital stays and countless appointments that come with such an intensive fight.
