My name is Sorin Florea, I am 43 years old, and I have been living with a rare condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 2 since I was just one year old. This illness has completely changed my life, leaving me paralyzed from the neck down and dependent on a wheelchair.

Every single day, I rely on my parents for even the most basic things — including eating. They are my constant support, but the reality is that our lives have become increasingly difficult, both physically and emotionally.

Despite everything, I have not lost my desire to live a more dignified and independent life.

I deeply wish to make a few essential changes that would significantly improve my quality of life:

• acquiring modern assistive technology that would allow me to communicate and interact more easily with the world around me
• adapting my home so I can safely move around in my wheelchair and gain more independence

These things may seem small to some, but for me, they would mean a huge step toward independence and dignity.
