Hello,
I spent the last 25 years working in Vancouver, but had to leave everything behind and move to Nova Scotia about a year ago to take care of my ailing parents. My father will soon be receiving home care, and my mother is now in a long-term care facility, so it’s almost time for me to move forward with my own life.
I currently work part-time as a crosswalk guard for elementary school children. I truly love the job, but it’s only about three hours a day and the work can be inconsistent. Unfortunately, it’s not enough to make ends meet.
I also have a shoulder injury from years of repetitive work, which prevents me from lifting my right arm above my head. This limits the kind of jobs I can take right now, though I’m working on getting it treated.
Despite my limited income, I managed to save enough to buy a plane ticket to New York to visit my fiancée. We recently got engaged, and my goal is to bring her to Canada as soon as possible. I’m scheduled to leave on December 17, but I don’t yet have enough for a return ticket — and they won’t let me travel without one. The ticket I bought is non-refundable, so I’m really hoping to raise the funds in time to spend Christmas with her.
We don’t care about exchanging gifts — being together is the greatest gift we could ever have. If you’re able to help us in any way, I would be deeply grateful.
