Background

In 2025, I was honored to receive the Grant Dance/USA award. With the invaluable assistance of my college’s accounting and grant office, I utilized these funds to construct a performance stage and complete an artist/scholar research residency at Ko-Don-So Bougobali SANOU (formerly Arts Green Culture), located on my farm in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. The Damage

On the evening of June 20, 2026, an unprecedented and severe windstorm hit Bobo-Dioulasso, causing the roof of the residency house to be uprooted. The structure, which previously hosted performances, research, and artistic exchanges, now requires rebuilding before the residency can resume.

The Request

I am seeking to raise $10,000 to repair the roof within one month. According to a quote from a local supplier, this budget is allocated for roofing materials, hardware, and installation labor. Funds are being collected through a FundRazr campaign.

Matching Gifts and Recognition

I am actively pursuing a matching-gift challenge through my college network; if successful, eligible contributions could be doubled. Donors contributing $50 or more will receive a personal video thank-you, and gifts of $500 or more will be acknowledged with their name on a dedication plaque at the newly rebuilt residency house.
