As many of you know we are having to move as I am losing our home. For those who don't let me give some on the back story. My husband Donnie and I were given the opportunity buy our first home. Our dream came true.  In Feb of 2015 my husband, our two daughters and I moved to Kansas to begin our lives. Everything was so perfect. We paid the house off fully within three years. However, when we bought the home, it was already behind in taxes. My husband worked his hands to the bone to try and catch up the back taxes. Then in late September of 2020 he began having pains in his stomach and went to the ER, thinking it was just perhaps a hernia. After a series of tests, he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. It spread all over causing a tumor in his stomach. In November of 2020 only two months from diagnoses my husband died. We had absolutely no time to prepare, but in all honesty how does one prepare for something like that? What savings we had went towards his final arrangements and to help us out financially for a while, while I got everything sorted out. Sadly, I just fell further behind in our property taxes. I still have not been able to catch up. Now over three years behind I know that I can't. I was notified that I must pay at the minimum the three years, or the county will begin a tax sale on our home. I was hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. I would love to be able to save our home, but I would need at the minimum $3,500 So, I'm being realistic. I know we have to move and losing our family home. Which is absolutely devastating and heart breaking but we are trying to remain positive through it all. It is going to cost me at least $1,200 if not more for moving costs. Still having to maintain monthly living expenses until we move and saving the amount needed to move is difficult. That is why I started this fundraiser. If you could donate to help towards moving expenses, I would greatly appreciate it. Anything you could donate, no matter how big or small would most definitely help.
