Hi my name is Kim
I'm a stroke survivor of 12 years and a single mother of a beautiful, active and vivacious 13 year old daughter. Prior to my stroke I was teaching special needs children in 7th grade and enjoyed a very active lifestyle. I am now on a limited fixed income and live a simple and happy life. I have a wonderful therapy dog Bo who needs several daily walks.
My stroke left me with partial paralysis of my right arm and leg, limited ability to talk (expressive aphasia) and partial loss of my eyesight. My orthopedic surgeon has told me I need a knee replacement but that I am not a good candidate due to my weakness in my right leg. I am unable to drive but have an electric wheelchair which I can get on and off the bus with. I am concerned that my increased use of my wheelchair will further the atrophy of my legs.
I believe that the Alinker walking bike would be a life changing aide. It would allow me to walk short and moderate distances which I am currently unable to do without significant pain. It would also put me at eye level to interact with people which would be much better than being in my wheelchair and having people looking down at me.
Please help me achieve my goal of further independence and improved quality of life.
Thank you for your support
