Our names are Olesya and Rostyk, we live in Saskatoon but originally are from Ukraine and are parents to two wonderful children. We represent many across Canada who are yearning to help. This story and campaign is not about us, but about the children whom we are helping in Ukraine.
In early 2015, we came across an organization in Ukraine called
"Future of Ukraine" run by a wonderful
lady by the name of Marta Levchenko who has taken it upon herself to
do what any parent should do - take care of children. Together with a
volunteer force of thousands across the world, she helps poor,
orphaned, sick and abandoned children by any means she can.
The Ukrainian Diaspora across the globe has come together and
is helping her efforts in Ukraine by sending parcels with basic
necessities: clothes, hygiene products, toys and other items. All
efforts are varied, while some have more backing and support, and
others buy and send things at their own cost.
We decided to get a group of people together and in addition to
sending our own things, wanted to explore how can this become more of
a community effort on behalf of the Saskatchewan people whose roots in
many instances go back to Ukraine. Little did we know that Toronto
would soon join, with potentially others across Canada, and now it has
become a much more of Canadian-Ukrainian effort.
As of April, 2016 we have been registered as a non profit organization under the name "Stream of Hopes Aid for Ukraine Inc." and are very excited about the opportunities this may bring.
We ARE "STREAM OF HOPES" and We are seeking two basic things:
- Donations of personal items any child may require, such as: clothes, hats, shoes, toys, food, creams, shampoos and other such items, and
- Financial contributions to help us pay for shipping of our parcels as well as sending money to pay for medications, surgeries, medical equipment, hospital renovations, etc.
This campaign is specifically created to help raise funds to pay for parcels, to send financial aid to these kids and to support the purchase of medicine, medical equipment and other necessities in the orphanages and hospitals.
We look forward to all contributions and assistance. Let's ensure that this "Stream of Hopes" can carve paths through difficult obstacles and carry the goodness of people to its destinations.
