Project aim
The goal is to raise funds for travel, accommodation and food for 10 year old Pride Mafira to get to South Africa with his father Frederick in order to be fitted for his new prosthetic limb.
About the project
Pride was born without a fibula (Fibular hemimelia)and when he was just one, his leg was amputated. He was given a prosthetic when he started walking, but still needed crutches to get around. His first prosthesis from the charity Jumping Kids enabled him to walk without a crutch and to run and play like a normal boy.
Pride turned 10 on 2 February 2015 and although his last prosthetic was only fitted in August last year, he's a growing boy and has outgrown it already. The Jumping Kids charity in Pretoria will provide him with a new limb, but he needs to be able to get to Pretoria, South Africa with his father Frederick and prodvide his own accommodation and meals whilst there to have it fitted. To keep costs down, Pride and Frederick will make the 1200km journey by bus.
His father, a truck driver has been out of work for several months following a serious motor accident from which he has been recovering - hence their need for financial support for this endeavor.
Pride loves running, soccer and sports in general but is finding participation hard with a too-small limb. Please help him get back to being an active little boy by making a donation. No amount is too small!
