Hi everyone, my name is Christina and I am on here because I have tried over and over again to take care of this on my own but I admit defeat. I was enrolled at Keiser University for two and a half years before realizing I had already gathered $29,683 in school loans. $8,000 of it has hit the collections department preventing me from reenrolling back into school until it is fully paid off.
The reason I am not in college right now is because my mother was in a diabetic coma for 28 days in 2011 and I had to take time off in order to take care of her. In order to care for her I had to take 4 academic interrupts within a 2 month period, the 4th resulting in an automatic withdrawal based on Keiser University Policy.
My total amount of loans equals out to $29,683 however I am only asking for help on $8,000. I have put any amount of extra money towards the balance which was $9,600 but I felt as if it snowballed and I couldn't keep up. I have even picked up a second job to help towards the balance.
This is not the end of college for me especially since I only have 5 months until I receive my AA in Criminal Justice! I want to start my career as soon as possible so I can take care of the outstanding balance of $29,000+ but this portion of $8,000 is stopping me from even getting the degree I need in order to get into my field of becoming a child social worker. Even if i finish the required courses needed by taking out a secondary loan, unless the loan in collections is paid off, I will not receive my official degree.
